Throughout history, old men have started wars that young people die in. They dress it up in flags and anthems, wrap it in words like "honor" and "duty" and "freedom," but underneath all the ceremony it's the same ugly thing it always was: state-sponsored violence for political and economic gain.
Every military dollar is a stolen dollar. Stolen from schools, from hospitals, from housing, from the futures of the very people they claim to protect. They'll spend $13,000 on a single toilet seat but tell you universal healthcare is "too expensive."
Support the troops? Absolutely. Support them by bringing them home. Support them by funding their VA hospitals. Support them by not sending 18-year-olds to die for oil companies. The best way to support the troops is to stop making more of them.
